Thought of the week - October 4th Workshop

Many of you have raised the question and the challenge of hiring this past year. As we come out of almost 2 years of this pandemic and focus on rebuilding our businesses, there is a need for a strong team to support this shift. Thanks to Katie Steffes @Capsule who introduced me to Cobi Collins, we will have an interactive workshop with Cobi on Monday, October 4th, at 1:00pm EST.As Katie told me: "Cobi was my source of all things HR when I decided I wanted to really invest in my business and my people to make sure I had the right talent in the right position to dig out of the hole that was 2020.I employed Cobi to help me...

Thought of the week - Shipping

It is so good to see many of you this week in our new showroom. Very refreshing to be back in person. I hope you all enjoy the shows and NYC. I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for hanging in with us while we wait for goods to trickle in, box by box. We got another batch today and all of the backorders will be shipped this week. It's been nerve racking to manage it all, here and in Israel but I see the end of it. We should be caught up on all of your orders. If you have any questions, requests, concerns, issues, please let me know. Have a great season! At least everything looks so good. It helps!   Happy...

Thought of the week - Community

For many years I had one concept of what community is for me.  As an Israeli, I had this cultural concept that people in my "community" are people I know very well. I know personal things about them, I know where they live, what they do, who they love ; like close friends that know each other well. That term changed and expanded so much since. I belong to communities today that I feel very connected to. Members that, though I don't always know very well, I share an intimacy with.  We are not friends outside the community but we need each other's help to practice and share experiences. My Tai Chi community, my work community, my women's community, our zoom community. Life would...

Thought of the week - Fall Deliveries

I have spoken with many of you but not with all and I wanted everyone to be in the loop. As most of you know, we are experiencing delays in deliveries mainly due to delays in fabric deliveries, overbooked cargo flights and understaffed channels from airports to customs clearance.  This is a situation we did not anticipate and we are quite overwhelmed by.   Factories are overloaded with work and lack staffing. (Same issue we have as retailers, everyone else in the world suffers from. The workforce is not fully back). Flights and ships are overbooked and keep being cancelled. Some with backlogs of a month.   I am very conscious of your timeline and your need for the goods you ordered. We expect to...

Thought of the week - Meet Tex

This past weekend I visited Nadine at Tiger's Eye; one of our retailers in Lititz, PA.   I met Tex there. She is 102 years old!  She came into the store with her walker, her hair done and was ready to shop! She tried on things, asked for some pins to show the staff where she needed the jacket shortened, she was vibrant and was having fun!  I couldn't take my eyes off her and asked her "how"? She said she loved living and made sure to learn something new everyday. She starts her morning with a drop of Baileys in her coffee and keeps moving. She also sleeps on her back so as not to spoil her hairdo, which she does once a week....
