Thought of the week - Employees

This question was discussed already but last week it came back around from a few of you so let's talk about it: How do you pay your store employees? I heard a few options and wanted to hear from you. What works best for you? Is it a flat salary? Salary with commission? Salary with a quarterly bonus? Monthly bonus? Is everyone getting it or the manager only? Or perhaps full-time employees only? We all know that money motivates us to do more. How can we do it in a healthy way and in a way that is right for our finances as well as our team? Happy Monday, Yael

Thought of the week - Seasons

I grew up in Israel where there is mainly one season which is Summer! We have a few months that we call winter when we have some rain and it's a bit cooler in the north of the country and in Jerusalem. Beach season is year round. Moving to the US was a big surprise. Who knew that Spring was a real season! And what a pleasure! Experiencing the greens of nature come back to life, feeling the weather changes and being truly part of all of it. And then came Resort! Learning about the cruise ships was another cultural shock. One cruise ship is like the size of Tel Aviv :) And people dress up for it! How exciting!...

ALEMBIKA Resort collection - the top of the top

We are slowly closing in on the orders for ALEMBIKA's resort collection. For this occasion we have gathered our top items for the upcoming resort season. With so many options in stock, and so many great garments, it was almost impossible to compile such a list. But we did it! And it was a pleasure to do it! We have gathered the items that moved us, that shook us, that made our heart beat a bit faster. (which at our age is a major risk we hope is appreciated ;) ) This upcoming resort season from ALEMBIKA is sensual - it is sophisticated, fun and romantic. From its Golden, desert sand inspiration to the emotional Red and the Blue of...

Thought of the week - Professionals

I used to hire professional help through friends or people that "fell in my lap" who spoke Hebrew and it was comfortable; or just because the price was right and laziness was on my side. How did it all work out? I ended up with an "out of status" visa situation and was not able to leave the US for 5 years. My then lawyer thought it was OK to file a renewal without having the right conditions for approval. Then my dermatologist didn't think the black mark on my wrist was a problem. But for some reason I insisted on having it removed only to find out it was melanoma; thankfully in a very early stage. My accountant opened...

Thought of the week - mornings

I'm not a morning person. Mornings are always a bit grey and my first thoughts tend to revolve around life, death and dying. My sister suggested to try and change that as part of my mindful practice. So I started to add a small smile when I wake up. A forced little smile that I noticed helped in changing my attitude towards the world and the new day. It really works! How simple to do and so effective. What is your first thought when you wake up every morning? Happy Wednesday, Yael My Sister and I
