Roni says that style is something we can acquire and learn if we are not born with it; just like art. You can learn the technics of drawing even if you were not born with that talent. I never had the natural skill for style. That is why I see you, retailers, as brilliant ladies with a big role to teach manyof us how to dress. When I shop I really rely on the sales person to direct me to the right piece or look. So we decided to run a fashion show during the September New York shows! Alembika On Saturday, September 17th at the Double Tree Hotel (Atelier Show), with friend and brilliant retailer Mary Jane from Collections...
My friend never went to her prom. Now & then she is flooded with a deep feeling of loss. She checks her keys, her purse, counts her kids & generally feels she is losing her mind. Then it dawns on her. Nothing is missing except for the side effects of her missing the prom! This gave me the idea to disintegrate all Hollywood cliches and propose a substitute for any age and ALL events. Ji-U Spring 2017 First step: drop cliche no.1: who needs a long dress with a certain possibility to trip on it? Any fine dress with a Gold or Fishnet jacket thrown over your shoulders will do the trick. For a stronger effect you may even dress...
I took a break from thinking over the last few weeks, but I'm back! And here is a thought!I never liked trunk shows. I always thought it was too much work and a waste of time . But in the last few months we have had a few trunk shows with a fewof you that have proved me wrong. Here is the thing, like anything else we do, if we do it right it works! For a trunk show to be successful it needs: * A line that we know our customers will come to see and shop. * Enough samples to represent the collection. Don't show up with twelve pieces. * Some refreshments and goodies. Champagne never hurt anyone....
After speaking to some of you after last week webinar as well as what we have been seeing in the industry, the retail world has changed dramatically in as little as 2 years. This is in large part due to Amazon. They have completely redesigned retail and shopping and have made being on line a must.
Here is what I got from our webinar:
* Just do it!
* Being online is no longer and option but a necessity!
*Treat your online store like your brick and mortar store. Make it just as important!
We will each do it a little different, matching our own personalities and needs.
That's OK!
Just do it.
Happy Monday!
Yael.

Yoga takes up 0.02% of my life. How come yoga clothes take up 88% of my closet? Yoga is a strong trend and so is dressing for yoga; or pilates; or pilat-yoga; or any other copywriter's dream. Alembika 8 out of 10 women who signed up for yoga classes are not showing up for classes but instead, going to meet the girls for coffee on a Saturday morning. Wearing a well thought out "Yoga" outfit or designer leggings with an elegant sweatshirt top is very cool. No wonder Stella McCartney is having such success in her collaboration with Adidas. Yoga has become a status symbol in the west. The blurring boundary between Yoga dressing and beautiful leisure fashion is proven,...
