This past weekend, I treated my son and his new fiance to a 5 star hotel stay in DC as a special engagement gift.I was so excited for them to have a perfect, pampered weekend. Saturday check in was slow but went well enough.The room was beautiful, facing the water with a nice balcony but the ashtray on the table was full of leftover cigarettes.Tapas dinner on the roof was unable to accomodate the cocktails ordered off the menu due to lack of alcohol. I am so pleased to launch our Alembika and Ozai Resort collections this season! I wasn't sure we would be able to make it this year with the fabric crisis all over the world. As our factories struggle to keep up with the demand and the lack of manpower, it always amazes me how our designers somehow make it happen. It was so good to be reminded this past weekend of how irreplaceable shopping in a physical store is.There was a short time during these past 2 years that we thought the online world of retail would take over 100% but spending time in stores these last 2 days proved the opposite. We learned that ladies love to come in and spend time and money with the store they love. There is no replacement for the physical experience, for the social interaction and the one on one experience.It’s a hard job but so rewarding. Seeing retailers in action is quite something; knowing what to show the customer, building outfits, styling them and keeping them interested all while standing on your feet for hours.I bow to...

A collection/season designed and created exclusively for the US market.
As a Greek designer, inspired by the islands, they really got the season's feel.
Their blue pulls from the blues of the ocean and their yellow, inspired by the Mediterranean sun.

We all need a mom. That figure in our life who is always there for us, shows up when needed and gives unconditional love.
It is easy for me to be a mother to my kids. Loving them unconditionally was and is always very easy. Nothing they do or say can offend me or change how I feel.
What I find more challenging and equally rewarding is when I can be my own mother. When I can comfort myself. When I can forgive myself and give myself a hug when I am feeling down.
