We are all a community

“Sangah” is the name for “a community” in Buddhism.2600 years ago, Buddha himself understood the need for a community for people to practice with, and the powerful effect of one, on people’s lives. As an Israeli, I arrived in this country with very solid feelings and ideas about what a ‘Community’ is about. It took me 23 years to let go of what I thought was “Right”. In Israel we “live and breath community” - Israelis are there for each other for better or worse. All the time. Why was it such a big Faut-Pas?http://nyti.ms/1yMkCPW Two policemen are dead, families are shuttered, and the first lady is being criticized for the suit she was wearing. Do you guys understand how big our role is!? If you were her stylist, perhaps you would have suggested something more suitable, to deliver the message of grief and respect. The Plus about Being Plus

Last week, NYT published an article about plus size, claiming the variety of plus size is limited. As if designers do not offer anything to the 14+ population. These type of articles really annoy me. There are plenty of plus size offerings out there. Here’s the root of things - nobody wants to shop in a “plus size department”. Women don’t want to be labeled as “plus” and shop in a separate department. That is why Saks Fifth Ave, Bloomingdale’s and Lord & Taylor, Just to name a few, closed down their plus size departments These department stores just did not do it right. All sizes from XS to XXL should hang on the same rack and on the same...
