Thought of the Week - End of Year

Thanksgiving brings many good thoughts to mind. Many people and things I am thankful for. I love this holiday as I don't always remember to be thankful. December is a month when I like to think about my past year and what I would like to change or let go of next year.   I am ready to let go of guilt and feelings of regret. So many moments and nights are wasted with these 2 emotions.    What I should have said, done, felt. What I made someone feel, what I should have done sooner, how stupid of me not to... blah blah... How exhausting and unnecessary. This self beating that many of us are so good at. I am letting it go. I am Ok...

Thought of the Week - Father Marco

On my recent trip to Italy, we met Father Marco, who lives in one of the Franciscan monasteries we visited. He joined our group for the day. He had that natural smile on his face all the time. He was wise and open, with so much humor and very easy to talk to.   Father Marco knows he is a gift to the world as a human being but he also knows that he is as important as any worm on this planet. It touched me deeply. I am a gift, I am a worm.    How can I work with this? Do you feel you are a gift? Can we have the ego of a worm?  Happy Monday, Yael

Thought of the Week - Anger

While traveling in Italy with a group last week,I was able to look at anger closely and work with it. Being in a group keeps one from acting out . For example; We were about to go to lunch in Florence after meeting an interesting guy who shared some great information about the Cathars. He wanted to take us to look at something related to the Cathars not far from the location we were in so we started to follow him but somehow most of us got separated from him and kind of lost. This was the first time the group got separated (last day of our trip) and many of us got frustrated. We were hungry and tired and lunch...

Thought of The Week - Plots

My husband and I just purchased two burial plots. What an interesting activity... So many thoughts and feelings came up that I wasn't anticipating. I always imagined myself buried in Israel but my home is New York, my children live in the US, and I want it to be as easy as possible for them. In Israel, the dead are wrapped in a white sheet and buried directly in the ground. That is how I imagined myself buried. Well, in New York state this is considered a "green burial" and the cemetary we went to doesn't offer it. So I will be buried in New York in a casket! I settled on a simple wood casket so at least I know that,...

Thought of The Week - The In Between

During market week last week, we had the pleasure of a visit from Kim of  KC’s Fashions. We got on the subject of life, death and everything in-between. She said when people visit a cemetery, they tend to look at the date the person was born and then the date they died but they forget the hyphen in between. The hyphen is a whole life lived. We tend to focus on the edges and forget the in-between. Do you remember to live in the hyphen? Thank you Kim for the reminder! Happy MondayYael
