“I started Smith Alder fine clothing when I was 46 and Jess was almost 13. She worked on Saturdays for a long time and, after college, came to work full-time for several years. I have always considered her my partner and best friend. And I always will…even though she is off on new adventures now, starting her family and perhaps a new career. She is still doing the buying with me, though! She’s amazing. And so is my beautiful grandson, Alex. Maybe he will be into fashion.:-)”

Of course, our lives were different, but we were the same in so many ways.
