Thought of the Week - The Good and Bad

I aspire to be everything my life is. My anger, my happiness, my jealousy, my pleasures, my fears, my love. When angry, to be angry, when satisfied, to just be satisfied and when sad to be sad. Can we be all these things - the good and bad without clinging to any? Happy Wednesday! - Yael

Thought of the Week - From home to office life

Last week, our office had a session with an organizational psychologist. We talked about office life and how it mirrors our family lives and how we each bring our roles from home into the office. For example, how many siblings we each have. Are we the oldest, youngest, middle child? How does this affect us and how do we carry these roles into the workplace every day? I have one sister. I am the little sister, the "baby". The one not asked to do much growing up and the less "responsible " one. Fall 2017 - Trends Ruled by Diversity

Prevailing rule for Fall 2017 is Diversity! Diversity is also spurred by a political climate: travel bans, intolerance; all these are enforcing diversity in Fashion, promoting tolerance & acceptance. This in turn qualifies the mix of all trends: return to the 80's, ultra modern shiny/puffy rocket launching outfits, fuzzy to cuddle up, Japonica meets countryside, Romance from Berlin in the 40's, from Athleisure to the Color Block mechanical doll, Prints, from Romantic flowers to Retro graphics & calligraphy of ancient scriptures. This sounds confusing but it just seems that each designer finds her/his niche. This brings a Cross-Generation appeal, diffusing age differences & where once a "missy look" was kept for the mature woman only, my granddaughter, at 17 wants...

Thought of the Week - Take a Break

When things get chaotic (and they are lately) I tend to forget my practice. I follow the chaos instead of pausing. So I just took a break from emailing and calling, stood on my feet to feel the ground, took a few deep breaths to remember the body that carries me daily and thanked it for sticking with me all these long days. Work can get overwhelming and the news these days doesn't help .... Do you remember to take a break? Happy Monday! - Yael

Fashion from Japan- Sweet & Severe

When Rei Kawakubo established her Fashion brand, Comme des Garcons & Yoji Yamamoto, she exposed her avant-guard styles and everybody raised a brow. These were the 1980's and the fashion world was not ready for the big revolution that was already spilling out of Japan into the West. The creative adult is the child who survived (Ursule le Guin). This is always what comes to my mind when I watch new collections that we receive from Japan. The Japanese design changed dramatically the relation between Fashion & Body. No more exact fitting & tailoring. No more garments that look perfect on the hanger. Yes to garments with beauty that is enhanced by movement & perfect tailoring. Outfits that are enhanced...
