“Store Spotlight” is a mini project we work on here in Roni Rabl where we showcase our stores and their owners, with the goal in mind to learn and share about how to make a fashion store successful.
And today we’re featuring Barbara, from Mirage Boutique.
Q. What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
A. Rocky Road is my favorite flavor ice cream.
Q. What’s your birth date?
A. April 16
Q. What made you become a store owner?
A. I always wanted a small business, I thought I wanted a Patisserie (back in the 90’s- I even learned how to make Gelato!!) but upon coming kicking and screaming to Florida in 2002 (can you tell it was not my idea!?), we purchased a small resortwear/swimwear shop on the beach and the rest is history. I have an Art and Business background so an upscale boutique is the perfect extension of what I have essentially done all my life! (who knew that playing with my Barbie under my father’s baby grand piano would be training for the job!
Q. What is the most important tip you can give someone who is about to open a store?
A. Most important tips to give someone considering opening a business is - 1.- Be sure what you will be doing is something you are passionate about. It is tough to be in business today so if it is your passion, then you will want to go there everyday and your enthusiasm will be contagious to both employees and customers.2- Do your due diligence, (what other stores are around your location; know the type of population of the area so you can best accommodate their taste and style.
