Thought of the week - Taking Care

I wish we could change our approach with the elderly during this hard time of Covid.
So many died alone in the past few months and we should make sure it doesn't happen again.
We should treat our elderly like our own young grandchildren. They both cannot be left alone and an aid cannot provide the emotional help they need.
These are the little risks I have decided to take this winter. To visit! One on one, keeping a healthy distance.
Covid is a very good, very real reason but not enough of an excuse to not visit.
I volunteer with hospice and I see the difference it makes for these patients. The human interaction is irreplaceable. Being on the phone is not enough. They need our company.
Not visiting for me is not okay. Covid or not.
How do we make it work?
Happy Monday
Yael
