I was about to give up on humanity this past weekend. I felt we are going backwards and not learning anything from our history. I felt hopelessness and anger.
But my son, who was born an optimist, reminded me like he always does, how humans overall are doing much better if you look back on the last 100 years:
Women can vote he reminds me, and abortion is legal, same with gay marriage. We landed on the moon and beat the Soviets and the Nazis he adds. And ended apartheid. We put social security in place and it now takes a year to develop a vaccine, not decades.
Ok, I say. I hear you son. Thank you for the reminder. I can go on with my day now.
Can we stay with the positive?
Happy Monday,
Yael
