Thought of the week - End of Life

End of life scares me and fascinates me. This conflict brought me to work with Hospice patients. I keep learning that in order to die well we need to live well. Hospice work reminds me what’s important, of how temporary I am. We all know it in our heads; it is a fact that we are all going to die but our body doesn't know it or believe it. I especially don’t remember that when I wake up in the morning. I need reminders, and caring for others at the end of their lives is the best reminder. I’m learning about vulnerability, tenderness and how to care for another. So, if I get upset next time you call me for an RA, remind me that we will both not be here in 50 years. That might help!:) Happy Monday! Yael
