This past week I was reminded how small the world is and how we all depend on each other. People and countries. The political environment this past year and the coronavirus crisis created this "us" and "them" feeling and attitude between China and the US. It's happening "there", far away, so it's not our problem. It causes a disconnect and a lack of compassion.
Most of our designers use fabric from China, many small businesses depend on Chinese production, we can't behave like we don't need them. This isn't just about Apple or Amazon being affected. My business will be hugely impacted if China does not reopen factories soon.
We depend on each other. The world is getting smaller, and more intertwined than ever before.
We should remember that and behave accordingly.
