Thought of the week - Taking Care

I wish we could change our approach with the elderly during this hard time of Covid. So many died alone in the past few months and we should make sure it doesn't happen again. We should treat our elderly like our own young grandchildren. They both cannot be left alone and an aid cannot provide the emotional help they need. These are the little risks I have decided to take this winter. To visit! One on one, keeping a healthy distance. Covid is a very good, very real reason but not enough of an excuse to not visit. I volunteer with hospice and I see the difference it makes for these patients. The human interaction is irreplaceable. Being on the...

Thought of the week - Yom Kippur

Yom Kippur is a day when we try to reflect and contemplate, staying quiet, fasting and looking at the past year. We try to learn from our mistakes, ask for forgiveness from those we hurt and try to think about the next year and how we want to enter it. This past year was so challenging and so hard but I learned a lot. I learned who my partners are, I learned a lot about my business and its needs, I learned about those people I don't want around me and how precious life is. Working under pressure and fear took a toll on all of us. What a great opportunity to learn. I mainly want to keep asking myself...

Thought of The Week - Fall 2020

We entered Fall 2020 with a lot of unknown and uncertainty. I depended on your orders and my designers were dependent on mine. We all froze for some time. But we all moved forward. Each with our own plan. I’m reminding you as well as reminding myself that this season we are floating. We keep things moving while we try to plan ahead. I was surprised and relieved that goods made it here. It’s a smaller season, smaller stock, but we continue to move forward and hear customers are happy to shop again. I like this saying by Eisenhower; "Plans are useless but planning is everything". Make a plan but be ready to abort it if it doesn’t work out....

Thought of the Week - Floating

I want to be able to float through this year, nose above water and to mainly watch. Watch the world, see what’s needed and then react. I invite you to join me. Take this year as a passage for what will come next, focus on the now, look down and not too far ahead. We don’t know what’s ahead. But we do know what we have right now. We have our customer and we want to learn how to keep her happy and shopping. Work with her and stay in touch through zoom, calls, and emails. Keep working on your online and social presence. Work on terms with your vendors, and with your landlords. Pack some untouched Spring goods and...
